One of the common misconceptions today is that women are the only sex that requires validation for their beauty…that they are the only ones who are body conscious, who hate their thighs or tummy, who want to lose weight, or want to look good naked.
Society believes that it is not masculine if a man is self-conscious of his tummy or his thighs (or at least they’re “not allowed” to talk about those insecurities, anyway), but the truth is that our male counterparts DO carry the stress of a beauty standard just like women do. They fret over having a “beer gut,” especially when they used to have a six-pack (or even if they didn’t). They fret over their face being rounder than it used to be, that their jeans won’t pull over their thighs and butt as easily as they used to, and even when they start to see those pesky greys coming through in their hair and beards. The truth is…perhaps they don’t say it or show it, but our men appreciate a boost in confidence and a compliment just as much as we women do.
I started this brand to celebrate beauty, and to empower women AND men to identify their beauty and exploit it instead of hiding behind their flaws and insecurities. Even in my own marriage, I recognize that my gorgeous husband has insecurities with his appearance…despite being told otherwise (by myself as well as random people when we are out & about…seriously, he's a hottie!)
